See title. I usually post one or two links on Reddit when I upload a new video (usually doesn't go over very well), post the link on my social media accounts once, and then advertise on /v/ from time to time whenever I see a thread on there. Surprisingly I've gotten some of my more positive feedback from 4chan.

Like you, I post my videos to Reddit as well. Since my videos are heavily cinematic, I usually can get away with posting a .webm of the most visually appealing shots, and tend to do better that way, with a link to the video in the comments. The only video I've had a lot of success with posting directly was the "Where's My Bike" video.
Other than that, I'll check the catalog whenever I've got some free time and see if a thread is up to go shill my videos. Other than the outlier of "Where's My Bike", the majority of positive feedback, or just constructive criticism, comes from /v/.

Find the appropriate sub i intend to release. post a little in the community so i don't come out of left field, then hope for the best. My smash ones go over the best cause i'm active on that Sub Reddit and not a total strnager. But i can't pay that kind of attention to everything .

I've never once used Reddit. All my subs come from /v/ or shoutouts from e-celebs who like me. I sell retro video games as a side business, and I do a lot of traveling because of it. Thanks to that, I'm on good terms with a few fairly big name guys, and on acquaintance terms with some huge YouTube stars.

I've had friends post a video on reddit before, didn't take off really. Since I do game reviews, I try and browse a few game related subreddits and give recommendations here and there. Not a ton of success so far but I'm trying :<

I got banned from 4chan for advertising! XD Guess I'm stuck just hoping something takes off on its own.

Are you the one always starting those threads?

Are you the one always starting those threads? Not always, although I have started like 3 or 4. I was banned for starting one though, I guess the mods got sick of me XD Advertising is against their rules so I can't blame them (even though /v/ mods are notorious Nazis. I could probably get away with starting YouTube threads on /fit/)

They always say to try and start a thread on /vg/, but when I tried that it got 0 replies and 404'd after like an hour. :/

I've never posted videos on reddit, nor actually used reddit. For me at least, it's been about networking. Interacting and collaborating with other channels will do you wonders, since along with sharing an audience you can learn a lot from each other and meet people who have useful skills that you don't. It also helps if you have something topical you want to make a video.

I hate the /v/ threads, just saying.
I typically look for relevant subreddits and share on my twitter. About it.

Well, the first one I posted outside of NormalBootsUnited was my Simpsons Wrestling one which I posted on the Simpsons subreddit. Considering that's my most popular review, I'd say it made a difference. I'd mostly say to try and seek out relevant websites that welcome OC.

I avoid Reddit like the plague. If I ever get big enough for it to matter, I'll literally pay someone to manage a Reddit thing for me.

Sadly many of the primary outlets that suck, are the ones best for obtaining traction. Reddit, tumblr and Twitter are powerful tools, moreso than /v/ You could try 8chan, Voat and those other hipster social outlets.

I made a Twitter because it's easy, but I just really dislike Reddit. I'll probably cave one day and get a friend to market for me. I just don't know the culture there and don't really wish to learn it.

Well looking at where me and Petronious got started, r/normalbootsunited, and the link dump horror it has become, I'd agree with reddit not being the best place to go. The only issue that leaves is that I can't really think of anywhere else.

Yeah r/NormalBootsUnited was great for me and my channel, but I don't think my last few videos have been noticed on there. My next video has a subreddit for the game I'm discussing so I might try posting it there too which will be a first.
