This is something I've been wondering since before I started making videos, but what makes you actually subscribe to a channel? Personally, if I end up watching most of someone's stuff just because I keep seeing it show up in recommended, or if I find myself going back to a channel to see everything. Also, if I get a good first impression I'll def hit Subscribe.

I have to really enjoy the content. I don't subscribe to a lot of things on my personal channel. Mostly car and music things, because kill me. The gaming stuff to which I am subscribed all post infrequently. I don't know, I have very specific tastes, and if someone is able to make me laugh consistently while discussing a topic I enjoy, I subscribe.

I subscribe mainly on two things. One is if whatever I watch is instantly one of my favorite videos I've seen on YouTube (Take History of Japan by Bill Wurtz), and two is if you regularly post comfy content.

1. Great production quality 2. Energy and compassion 3. Comedy (if included) is natural (too many memes and running jokes will kill it, and I'm kind of guilty of that back then)

I personally like more podcasty type stuff. Not like hour long discussions, but just videos that I can throw on for a little while and really get a chance to listen to a person's ideas or opinions on something. Comedy can be a bonus, but if it's too over the top it's a little off-putting for me at times.

I usually go for the more scripted and comedy type stuff but I can enjoy most videos about games that aren't let's play and commentaries to some degree.
As long as the person does actually have something to say and I can appreciate the work that went into the video, that works.
I after finding a video I usually find about 2 more by the same person to see if I like them too, then subscribe for more.

This is always a tough question to answer but the safest bet is if its entertaining and the person behind the mask is worth investing my time into watching.
Like Brody, I have very specific tastes. But if I see improvement and passion for their work, then I'm invested. Regular upload schedules don't mean shit to me since I have a backlog of other stuff to watch and play. So waiting a few weeks or months for a quality product is okay with me.

It has to strike a chord with me either by being insightful, passionate, or well put together. I always leave a thumbs down for people Asking for a sub and the like at the end.

I can get that, but I mean you kind of have to promote. I try to find new ways to say the same thing in my videos because it kind of has to be said. I do understand how a lot of people seem don't genuine and just want that YT moneys lol

Eh. i'll always adhere to the philosophy of "if it's good, people will sub." its just a practice i really dislike. I get that it benefits some. but its really played out in my opinion.

Posting regularly is a major thing with whether I subscribe to someone or not. If someone is inactive, but I have all the hope that they'll come back to make more content because I enjoyed the stuff they used to do when they were highly active, then I'll stay subbed to them, otherwise, they get binned. That sounds pretty stingy and mean, but it's what you have to do to get the best out of all the people you like to watch.
