Well here we go.. the start of a channel revolution!
RETRO GAMES as a series is now to become a set of reviews.. I've waited a long while to get this video uploaded! Now it's up for any kind of feedback you got!
It's basically a review, mixed in with some drama.. very AVGN-ish I get that, but someone has to start somewhere! Also, the review pretty much doesn't start until around the 5:30 minute mark.. so if you're not one for drama, you can just skip to the review! :-)
If there was one thing I would want to improve on.. clearly the length! 25 minutes is WAY too long I think... then again, JonTron's reviews are mostly this length..

Yeah this length would drive people away. I don't even watch Totalbiscuit's "WTF is.." series anymore because every video is 30 damn minutes long. And he's one of the most well known youtubers. This review could be cut in half and still might be too much. I'm not a fan of the drama shtick in general, so I can't comment on the quality of that. The review itself still ends up being most of the video, which tells me that the review itself is too long as well. Trim it down for all our sakes. Focus on the good parts, take out anything unnecessary. I can tell you clearly have a passion for this and mean well, you have some good thoughts as well.

Yeah this length would drive people away. I don't even watch Totalbiscuit's "WTF is.." series anymore because every video is 30 damn minutes long. And he's one of the most well known youtubers. This review could be cut in half and still might be too much. I'm not a fan of the drama shtick in general, so I can't comment on the quality of that. The review itself still ends up being most of the video, which tells me that the review itself is too long as well. Trim it down for all our sakes. The only thing I would say to counter this, is.. ' each to their own'. I'll be honest, I'm not going to please everyone with my work. It has to be said, I do have a very weird fan base, in that a lot of people like different types of video, because my videos are all based on different things that I've taken from other YouTubers. I only added the "drama" aspect to it because I'm a huge fan of film-making, and a lot of inspiration to that comes from watching the Board James series from Cinemassacre. What tends to happen however, is whenever I'm filming for the segments, I don't actually realise the length until I put it all together.. so what I get is a video that's a lot longer than I think it's going to be.. and then 2-3 days into editing, I just think.. ahh fuck it.. and just try and finish the video. The drama will continue over the course of 12 episodes I plan to make, but in terms of the review, I'll see if I can tone it down slightly for next time. Huge thanks for your input! |
